June has arrived, and so have the shrimp!  And the best news, the INSANELY EPIC fishing has continued.  Anglers are catching everything in, on, and around the First Coast.  But people still had lots of questions about things, and Chris called in with some head-scratchers about kingfish.  This prompted the guys to share all kinds of tips and techniques with him….and everyone else listening.

Thanks to Capt. Don Dingman who called in, we got to talk about fishing exotic locations like Costa Rica, Guatemala, and even the Keys.  We even talked about what to do when the weather just won’t cooperate; Jeff shared his thoughts on two TV shows that are simply must-see.  He said that his picks were based on the outstanding, “Nat Geo”-quality cinematography that best captures the wilderness we’ve all grown to love so much as outdoors enthusiasts.  Listen to see what shows are a must for your DVR.

Capt. Kirk came in RAVING about his new find – the Deep Blue Marine Leader Line Minder.  He can dispense, organize, & store up to four spools of the most popular types of leader material. It’s simple to use – loads and unloads with a twist of the lever. Kirk really loves the convenient suction cup mount means no holes to drill, easily movable, and permits use in any position – horizontally, vertically, even upside down. It’s versatile, too – you can keep many different sizes of leader material organized in one location. The Deep Blue works with the most popular 50 yard spools including; Ande, Calcutta, Stren, Sufix, Triple Fish, Penn, Sea Striker, Team Fish, and many others. If that wasn’t enough, it’s got a lifetime warranty, too.  Deep Blue Marine makes them in different sizes, capacities, and configurations, so you’ll be able to find one to meet your exact specifications.

The Smoked Fatty

Thanks to Johnathan for passing this recipe along!  It all starts with a bacon weave, followed by jimmy dean sausage layer. Then top it with sautéed onions, bell peppers, raw jalapeños and cheese and rolled into a fatty. Dust with homemade rub and smoked until bacon is crispy.

Now THAT is something you don’t see every day!  Southeast of the St. Augustine Inlet, Capt. Kevin was able to watch an artificial reef get dropped!  He said it was amazing to witness, and now, over the next few weeks, we’ll all be able to benefit…because his tip were the coordinates!

Kevin did note this is not directly on the reef (if it was, his new boat would be down there with everything they dropped), so you’ll have to do a little hunting.  But hey – you’ve got a great head start, right?
