About The Fishing Forecast
Since 2013, The Fishing Forecast, hosted by Captains Kevin Faver and Scott Shank, provides an in-depth look at everything that’s happening on the water around the First Coast. It is the only mid-week fishing show on the air in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia dedicated to getting you ready for the week ahead, so you know where to fish, when to fish, and what to expect on the end of your line. Of course, you’ll definitely hear some exciting stories and get some useful tips along the way, too.
The Outdoors Show can be heard live every Saturday morning from 7:00-10:00am in Jacksonville, FL on 92.5FM/1010AM. The show can also be heard on-demand on any mobile device via free subscription or download through the Apple Podcast or Stitcher app.
About Capt. Kevin Faver
Capt. Kevin, a fourth generation Floridian, began fishing at age five, and his love affair with the water (and everything swimming in it) has never stopped. He became a licensed charter captain at age 18.
He quickly learned, through his father and his mentor Capt. Mike Scanlan, how to be a better fisherman and a top-notch charter captain. Over the years, Capt. Kevin has developed a love for catching tarpon, cobia, kingfish, sharks, and anything else that wants to participate. During the cooler months, most of his trips are in the backwaters fishing for reds, trout, and flounder.
Kevin also enjoys spending time in the outdoors with his wife, kids and granddaughter. They spend as much time outdoors as possible. “Passing on the legacy of hunting and fishing to my children and grandchildren the way my dad passed it on to me is one of the most important things I can do as a father. The outdoors is a great way to spend time with your kids and grandkids and teach them respect and responsibility”.
About Capt. Scott Shank
Capt Scott has lived in St. Augustine all his life. He’s married to his wife Kathy they have 3 children twin boys Tyson (Lauren) Toby (Katie) and a daughter Kayla. They have 2 grandchildren Ella and Rhett. Scott’s passion for the saltwater started at a young age because of his dad. Fishing was an important part of his life spending time with family. Starting around 13, his summer breaks were spent on party boats learning different tactics for bottom fishing. At 16, he left the bottom fishing boat and move to the cockpit of sport fishing boats to learn about trolling for dolphin, wahoo, and marlin. Scott was able to spend time in the Bahamas, fishing aboard some of the top fishing boats and learning from some of the best mates and captains on the East Coast. He eventually got his USCG Captain’s License and started running boats for others. He then started his own business, Full House Fishing Charters. His dedication to fishing can be seen as he teaches his clients, young and old, about fishing in northeast Florida. He also does seminars for anglers of all ages to promote the conservation of our resources.
Getting the opportunity to co-host The Fishing Forecast and become part of the Outdoors Show family has been nothing short of a dream come true; what better way to love the sport of fishing then to also talk about it to others?
