From my neighbor Mrs. Jewel in Georgia. Simple and mmm good!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees....while warming put 12 inch square baking pan or similar casserole dish in oven with 1/2 to full stick butter(I use 2/3 stick of salted butter) or margarine and allow to melt. While butter is melting, in a bowl mix:
1 cup self rising flour, 1 cup of sugar, 1 egg, 1 cup milk, teaspoon vanilla extract.....don't need a blender but a wire whisk
Once butter/margarine has melted completely and oven is heated, remove from oven and take contents of bowl and pour into pan with melted butter. Next take favorite fruit and pour right on top and in middle of mixed contents. Don't mix in fruit as it settles just fine. I make it simple and buy canned fruit(I prefer peaches) in fruit juice. Fruit in syrup makes it too sweet for me. Two regular sized cans are perfect and I cut fruit up while in the can. Including the juice from the can makes it more like cobbler and less like cake. Put in your oven at the 350 degrees for about 40-45 minutes or until top browns slightly and enjoy with vanilla ice cream!!

Per Josh Brown, this is one of te best deserts ever - Scotty Brown agrees! If it wasn't for Mr. Jeff's deer and Mrs. Jewel's cookin, that boy would never travel to Georgia!
