OS 1127: Texas, Turkey Talk, and Isaias

Jeff was back in the studio to talk about his trip to Texas – not only did he get to celebrate Papa Lageman’s 80th birthday, but he got to do a little OSR as well!

Of course, Hurricane Isaias – and it’s potential impact on the First Coast – was a major topic of conversation.  At this point, it’s looking like the majority of storms we see during the season, but you never know which way things could go.  Be careful!

Kevin was all fired up, saying it was “Christmas in August”.  Why?  It’s time to check the trail cams!  Yep – it’s time to start fishing AND hunting.  How are you getting ready?

Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week: Jeff loves The Rope Ratchet because it’s strong and easy to use… So handy to have in a boat, truck, deer stand, or ATV. Get yours HERE

Here’s your Ring Power CAT tip of the week from Captain Kirk: Shark rigs made up for handy “set-n-go” behind the shrimp boats. 150 lb wire, 7/0 J-hook bronze.

Here’s your Kirbyco Builders Inc. Cooking tip of the week: Chad at The Bearded Pig BBQ likes to use Butcher’s paper to ‘wrap’ Butts & Brisket about 2/3 the way through smoke time. It helps control heat and retains juices so the meat stays moist.
