OS 1132: Mullet, Tarpon, & Moccasins

Jeff was doing some OSR up on the Georgia property this week – getting ready for deer season.  So that left the studio in the hands of Capt. Kevin, Capt. Kirk, and guest co-host Capt. Scott Shank.

So, with three charter captains chatting it up, you know they were talking about everything happening on the waters of the First Coast.  The mullet are running and the tarpon are kicking!  Be careful though, because you NEVER know what can happen on the water; Kevin gave everyone an updated account of a scary experience from Thursday (you can hear his first telling of the Pancake Story in the most recent Fishing Forecast).

Chris, the Outdoors Show producer, also had a story to share – about his encounter with what MAY have been a water moccasin in his driveway as he got ready to head into the studio before dawn for the show.  How do you deal with those nasty critters?  Everybody chimed in, including Jeff, who was on the phone from his porch…

Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week from Captain Kirk: I know we used this about a month ago but what a great find by Captain Kirk! Captain Kevin absolutely wore out the Spanish and little tunny this week!!

Here’s your Ring Power CAT tip of the week from Captain Kevin: If you’re fishing this weekend it looks like the wind is going to switch out of the Northeast. That’s great news for the mullet run! Concentrate on fishing around the inlets. The mullet should start pouring out of the inlets and should be loaded with tarpon, sharks, reds and big jacks!

Here’s your Kirbyco Builders Inc. cooking tip of the week: An oldie but a goodie!
